Why is the Aston Martin prototype built in LHD?
See pics – http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/news/spyshots/219804/aston_martin_rapide.html
Built and designed in Briton, with British plates, owned by a British consortium and being tested at the firm’s British test track…. Hmm!?
Malcom, your thinking of Jaguar – Aston Martin is owned by ProDrive.
America drive on the left – its their biggest market by far.
In addition, the majority of its cars are produced in LHD as more countries drive on the left. (UK, Australia and Japan are the only major RHD markets)
p.s. its owned by prodrive and a Kuwaiti investment bank – that’s where most of the money came from.
EDIT – i just had a look at the link and that is a “rapide” which is not being built in the UK, its being built in Germany or Austria (i can’t remember) but its the first time an Aston hasn’t been built in the UK. plus that looks like the nurburg ring which is in Germany, where they drive on the left. Aston/ jaguar share a test centre there. this mule was probably built in the UK (hence the plates) but with production in mind hence LHD as the cars are primarily engineered to be LHD.
I would have a DB9
